Two of Nature's Best Moisturizing Ingredients for Skin: The Powerful Duo in Oxygenetix Hydro-Matrix
Ever wonder what makes the fan-favorite Oxygenetix Hydro-Matrix so remarkably hydrating? The secret lies within the moisture-locking formulation containing two of nature's most powerful humectants, Hyaluronic Acid (HLA) and Sodium PCA.
When formulating our Oxygenating Hydro-Matrix the Oxygenetix team took great care to choose all-natural ingredients that would work synergistically to bring the most moisture and protection to the skin as possible.
Hydro-Matrix is a gentle but powerful topical, packed with nutrients capable of replenishing moisture loss and soothing even the most sensitive skin.
Oxygenetix Chief Chemist, Raymond Schep, provides insight into the mighty moisturizing duo in Oxygenating Hydro Matrix; Sodium PCA and Hyaluronic Acid (HLA).
Sodium PCA
PCA is the sodium salt of pyrrolidone carbonic acid.
Pyrrolidone carbonic acid commonly referred to as ‘PCA’ is a moisturizing agent that occurs naturally in the skin. Derived from naturally existing amino acids, PCA is known to be responsible for moisture absorption in the skin.
Oxygenetix Chemist Raymond Schep explains, “PCA is hygroscopic, meaning it loves water. It absorbs moisture from the air and holds it in the skin.”
In fact, PCA has the ability to hold more than it’s own weight in water. It binds moisture to skin cells delivering long-lasting care.
In addition to moisture-binding powers, PCA is very gentle on the skin. Dr. Schep explains, “PCA is non-irritating to skin and eyes and is non-comedogenic meaning it won’t clog your pores.” The skin is no stranger to PCA and accepts the benefits gratefully.
Hyaluronic Acid HLA
HLA or sodium hyaluronate is the sodium salt of hyaluronic acid.
Just like PCA, HLA is naturally occurring in the body capable of attracting moisture to the dermis.
HLA is the connective tissue lubricant that plays a role in the interaction between tissues in the body. Dr. Schep paints the picture, “Just like the oil in the car of an engine, HLA is the lubricant in our joints. Our knees are basically two bones on top of each other and without hyaluronic acid between them, it would be very uncomfortable. The HLA acts as a lubricant between the joints to keep them moving. When we get older our joints become stiffer as we produce much less hyaluronic acid.”
Although both PCA and HLA attract moisture, the hyaluronic acid has other skincare benefits. HLA takes peptide growth factors and proteins to the wound, thereby promoting skin renewal.
Additionally, HLA helps the other skincare ingredients in Hydro-Matrix get through the dermis as Dr. Schep explains, “HLA helps facilitate absorption of other beneficial ingredients in the formulation by the skin.”
Benefits of the PCA and HLA Duo
- PCA & HLA plump the skin, creating a smoother appearance.
- PCA & HLA keep the skin hydrated and crack-free, creating the perfect palette for Oxygenating Foundation.
- PCA & HLA soothe dry sensitive skin which can crack and chaff.
- PCA & HLA make the skin feel fresh and alive!
Oxygenetix Hydro-Matrix does a great job maintaining skin hydration, and also acts as a shield against pollutants while soothing sensitivity.
Dr. Schep concludes, “Hydro Matrix is a very powerful topical. Not only is it a moisturizer, but with Oxygenetix patented Ceravitae®, it causes the cells to uptake Oxygen, respirate and grow new skin faster.”
