5 Trending Makeup Looks Sure to Dazzle This New Year's Eve!
You've decked the halls, hung the lights, and seen all the festive sights this month. Now it's our personal favorite time, getting holiday party ready with this year's best makeup looks.
Trying a new makeup technique is an exciting way to ring in the New Year! With 2022 around the corner, we have gathered 5 of the top trending makeup looks fitting for your holiday festivities.
1. Smoky Reverse Cat Eyeliner
One big Tik Tok trend this year was the reverse cat eye winged liner look. This takes the traditional cat eye and flips it to underneath the lower lash line. The concept is the same with a wing extending outward and up from the outer corner of the eye, but with the main line on the bottom.
For extra intrigue, line the corner of your eye as well to a point. Use a blending brush to make a smoky effect underneath the liner with a dark shadow. Watch this video tutorial from Sophie Hannah on Youtube to learn more:
2. Glittery Eyeliner
A New Years makeup line up wouldn't be complete without a little glitter! Trending this year is glitter winged liner that brings a bit more pizzazz to the classic cat eye. You can make this liner look over a classic cat eye or have the glitter stand on its own.
This sparkly look works great with loose eye glitter (ditch the craft glitter) and mixing liquid. Use a small eyeshadow brush or liner brush to apply it carefully to your eyelid using tapping motions. There are also glitter gel liners available with applicators inside that are ready to use directly on your skin.

3. Golden Skin is In
Beautifully bronzed skin isn't beholden to summer alone! Trending this season is a golden glow atop a dewy complexion.
To get this look focus on skincare first by exfoliating and moisturizing. Exfoliation helps slough off dead skin cells for a youthful glow, while good skin hydration helps lock in moisture which is crucial in winter months. Use Oxygenetix Hydro-Matrix after cleansing and exfoliating to maintain a healthy moisture barrier and prime the skin for the rest of your look!
Once your skin is prepped, apply your favorite Oxygenetix Foundation for a natural finish and a look that will last all night. Oxygenetix Oxygenating Foundation and Acne Control Foundation are great for holiday pictures and parties since they photograph like a dream and keep the skin nourished with skincare benefits. Best of all, if you fall asleep in your makeup, Oxygenetix won't harm your skin!
To create a golden glow use sparkly bronzer or a golden highlighter on the tops of your cheekbones and temples. Looking fabulous in a makeup look fit for New Years is Cheyenne Maya Carty @chey_maya featured on MUA Nam Vo's Instagram @namvo.
4. Monochrome Color
According to celebrity makeup artist, Ashunta Sheriff, monochromatic makeup has been around since the 50's. This trend comes and goes, but has definitely made a come back in 2021. We are seeing monochrome all over, with bold colors in the spotlight.
Monochrome makeup uses the same hue on your eyes, cheeks, and lips for a look that really pops! You can use different shades of the hue in different places, for example dark burgundy lips with soft burgundy cheeks.
This season play around with purples, pinks, oranges, and reds. Here is a great example from Australian influencer Victoria Meek @victoriajmeek.
5. Iridescent Shadow
Shimmery eyeshadow was all the buzz earlier this year and has stuck around when we need it the most. Take out your iridescent shimmers and holographic pigments to hop aboard the glimmer bandwagon!
