The Foundation Celebrities and Plastic Surgeons Are in Love With

Written by Dawn Bevier July 27, 2022

I’ve only worn it for fifteen hours, and I’m already hooked.

Kourtney Kardashian states: “I make sure anyone doing my makeup uses this foundation.”

Former supermodel Cindy Crawford says: “Even though I use other foundations at times, this is my go-to because I don’t really have to powder over it, and it still stays in place. Also, it’s the right amount of coverage for me without feeling like I am wearing anything.”

These are only two beautiful stars raving about the wonders of Oxygenetix foundation, but there are lots more. For example, Huda Beauty lists many Hollywood beauties singing the product’s praises, including Margot RobbieAnne HathawayKate BosworthFKA Twigs, and Gal Galdot.

What’s more, Pop Sugar reports the foundation has the honor of being included in Oscar nominee gift bags, bags filled with luxury items totaling almost one hundred and forty thousand dollars.

Being the beauty fanatic I am, reading these facts led me to investigate the brand further, and the more I researched, the more convinced I was trying their fifty-dollar concealer was worth the cost.

So when I received it today, I immediately went to my bathroom to apply it, and even without moisturizer, it covered flawlessly.

For example, I have freckles, hypopigmentation, and acne scarring, and just a drop of this concealer made them drastically less noticeable.

In addition, unlike many other high-coverage concealers, it didn’t settle into fine lines or wrinkles and lasted all day without oxidizing or rubbing off.

Although the Oxygenetix concealer is fabulous, most of the rave reviews from Hollywood stars have been about the actual foundation.

I’m sure I’ll be ordering this foundation to try it out; however, I’m holding off until I receive sample swatches.

I’ll tell you more about this issue later, but first, let me give you the low-down on the foundation itself.

What makes Oxygenetix foundation so special?

Its unique formulation

Initially created by dermatologists to help cover and heal the redness and irritation after specific skin care procedures, Oxygenetix is different because it’s aloe-based, not water-based like most foundations.

This is important because aloe vera has long been known to calm inflammation, moisturize, [and benefit compromised skin]. However, Medical News Today lists other benefits of aloe vera, remarking it can do the following:

  • generate collagen production
  • correct sun damage
  • make skin plumper and more elastic
  • help improve skin issues such as eczema and rosacea

With its unique formulation, it’s easy to see why Oxygenetix’s foundation is so popular.

Its Ceravite Complex

The company calls this complex its “hero ingredient” and explains its power in the following statement.

“ [Because of the complex], skin cells are stimulated to increase their oxygen uptake [and promote skin renewal]. These fresh cells create younger-looking skin.”

Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Thomas Vecchione provides support for the company’s claims, saying it “allows your skin to breathe” and even “drives oxygen into your skin cells to help produce collagen more quickly.”

The cons

Shade selection

Remember when I told you I purchased the brand’s concealer instead of their award-winning foundation?

This is the reason.

Since Oxygenetics can only be purchased online and in select dermatologists’ offices, there is little way to ensure you have the right color for your skin.

In the product’s defense, you can take a picture, upload it to the site, and receive a shade recommendation. Of course, you can also look at swatches online and search for faces with skin tones similar to yours. However, I prefer testing the foundation on my skin because online swatches are often inaccurate due to different lighting and other elements.

This is why I ordered a sampler card for ten dollars. Once it arrives, I can test each shade on my skin and make sure I’ll be happy with my color purchase.

And the most critical reason to actually test Oxygenetix foundation before you buy is that this highly lauded base comes with a hefty price tag.

Price tag and amount

Oxygenix’s foundation costs sixty-six dollars.

Okay, yes, it’s expensive, but not “lose my house” expensive, so the price really isn’t the major problem. The problem is that you only get .5 fluid ounces.

That’s a tiny amount for an almost seventy-dollar purchase. The company does mention you need very little foundation to do the job, but I still doubt how long a bottle of this product would last.

The bottom line:

Before I conclude, let me tell you that this article contains no affiliations, and I receive no monetary rewards for my writing.

I’m just a beauty junkie who’s always looking for that holy grail foundation that has excellent coverage and makes me smile a little bigger when I look in the mirror.

And if it’s anything like their concealer, my pocketbook’s gonna hurt.
