How a Vogue Beauty Editor Gets Ready for New Year's Eve
I’ve spent a good decade (and a half) honing my party beauty look; a period that has seen me experiment with graduated blue eyeliner around my entire eye, wear concealer on my lips for a “nude” effect, and over-egg it with the bronzer on numerous occasions. At 28 – and at the end of a defining decade – I’ve finally nailed the getting ready process, meaning I’m treating this New Year’s Eve as a beauty rite of passage – essentially my “graduation” into a new year free from beauty faux pas. So, shall we begin?
Skin
I look for foundations that are non-comedogenic, which means they don’t clog pores or trigger breakouts. It has been a long journey, but I’ve found The One. Oxygenetix’s Oxygenating Foundation is neither sexy nor housed in beautiful packaging, but makes up for it with its kind-to-skin formula that imparts a soft glow and smooths uneven skin tone. Take it from me that there is really nothing else quite like it. I’ll apply with my fingers, then to add extra radiance to my skin – I’ll already have injected a little glow with St Tropez’s Self Tan Purity Face Mist the night before – I’ll buff some of MAC’s Face and Body Foundation or Clé de Peau Beauté’s Radiant Fluid Foundation over the top with a brush.
